2024 Spring Track & Field

Cost: $35 per participant

Jersey: $14 for a track jersey required

Purchased at the Hurricane Community Center

(track jersey and XC jersey are the same)

2nd-8th grade

When: Practice Mon and Wed

                   5:30-6:30 pm

Where: Hurricane High School Track

Practice: Starts March 18

 

Track Meets: Please arrive early for registration

The Hurricane Track & Field program will help kids train and compete in a variety of track & field events. Kids will practice 2 days a week to help them improve their speed, running and throwing technique. Coaches will also teach proper warm-up and recovery techniques. Runners have the opportunity to compete in track meets in Hurricane and surrounding towns. Parents are responsible for any travel or fees for meets.

Running events: 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1-mile and 4x100m relay, and hurdles.

Field Events: Long Jump, Softball Throw, Javelin, Discus, and Shot Put.

Registration: July 1

Cost: $35 per participant

Divisions: 2nd-8th Grade

Where:  Grandpa's Pond Park

Practice:  Mondays & Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm

Season: August 19 - October 7

Program Description: Cross Country is a running program where your child will build their running endurance and speed by running in various locations, terrains and speeds. We will also teach correct running and recovery techniques. Your child will train to compete individually and as a team in a series of 1-2 mile races throughout the season.

 

Anticipated Outcome: Your child will gain physical strength and endurance, develop healthy active lifestyle habits, and gain confidence through team building and positive competitive events. Runners will develop strong mental skills and build a strong sense of discipline in many aspects, both athletic and life.
